One of the greatest living cinema directors will not get to make his final masterpiece, “The Dreaming Machine“.
He leaves behind a legacy of one TV series – “Paranoia Agent” and four films “Perfect Blue”, “Millennium Actress”, “Tokyo Godfathers” and “Paprika”. “Tokyo Godfathers” was set in some of the same locations in Tokyo where we shot Tiger.
Here is a remix we did ages ago of Susumu Hirasawa’s amazing track from the Paprika soundtrack, “The Girl In Byakkoya”:
The Girl In Byakkoya (Beaufort Remix)
This particular film featured three incredible men in direct collaboration: Yasutaka Tsutsui, the original author, Satoshi Kon the director and script writer and Susumu Hirasawa (best known for his Berserk soundtrack).
Someone has done a fan movie of Paprika to our remix:
First Malcolm McLaren and now Satoshi. The world seems to be thinning.
J-Film Pow-Wow has more on his life here.
